The people behind SweetFarewell
SweetFarewell is a small team based in Winterthur, Switzerland, founded by Gael Genet. We built it so that the words people mean to say never stay unsaid.
Why I started SweetFarewell
I was afraid myself. Not so much of dying, but of leaving without having told the people I love what they mean to me. The idea of simply disappearing, with them never knowing what I would have wanted to say, gave me real anxiety.
On a plane, you have no control over what happens. You put your life in the hands of people you have never met. And with the accidents and conflicts in the news, I don't always feel as safe as I used to.
Writing it down changed that. Knowing my words were there, ready if they were ever needed, let me board with a lighter mind. SweetFarewell is how I want to give that same calm to others.

How we decide about a delivery
A person on our team reviews every alert. No message is ever sent by a machine alone.
When flight data shows that a flight did not land normally, we check official sources: the airline, the aviation authorities and the accident investigation body. A delivery is approved only when an accident on your flight is confirmed and you are among the victims.
Alerts are covered by the whole team, so a review never depends on one person being available.
What we promise
- Your message and your contact's details are encrypted before they are stored. We don't read them.
- If you land safely, nothing is sent and your contact never knows the message existed.
- One credit per message, no subscription.
- We're honest about the limits: delivery depends on official confirmation of an accident and cannot be guaranteed.
