How it works
What is SweetFarewell?
SweetFarewell lets you write a private message before a flight and link it to that flight and one person you choose. If the flight lands safely, which is almost always, nothing is sent and your contact never knows the message existed. If an accident on your flight is confirmed after a review of official sources by our team, your contact receives an SMS and an email with a private link to read your message. They don't need an account. Each message costs one credit, and there's no subscription.
Which flights are covered?
All commercial flights. When you activate your Farewell, you enter the flight number and date, and the flight is then followed automatically until it is over. You don't need to do anything during the trip. Flights without a flight number can't be followed, so they can't be covered.
How long does delivery take?
Automated flight checks raise an alert if a flight never landed. A person on our team then checks official sources before anything is approved. As soon as the accident is confirmed and the delivery is approved, the SMS and the email are sent to your contact automatically.
What if my flight lands safely?
Nothing is sent, and your contact is never told the message existed. That's what happens on almost every flight. The copy of the message and contact details attached to that flight is deleted 30 days after landing. Anything you saved in your library stays there until you delete it.
Can a message be sent by mistake?
It's very unlikely. We send a message only after the accident has been confirmed by official sources, and a person on our team approves every delivery. A message is never sent by a machine alone.
Your contact
What does my contact receive?
Only if an accident is confirmed: an SMS and an email saying that you left them a message through SweetFarewell, with a private link. The link opens your message on a simple page. The SMS and the email don't contain the message itself, only the link to it.
Does my contact need an account?
No. The link opens your message directly on a private page. Your contact doesn't need to sign up, log in or install anything.
What if my message can't be delivered?
A message can only fail if the phone number or email is wrong. If neither works, our team is alerted and tries to reach your contact another way. Please check your contact's details before each flight.
Privacy and safety
Is my message private?
Yes. Your message is encrypted before it's stored, with a key kept separate from our database. Neither we nor our host can read it in normal operation. It's decrypted only to show it to you, and to your contact if an accident is confirmed. Your contacts' names, phone numbers and emails are protected the same way.
Who confirms an accident?
Our team does, never a machine alone. Automated flight checks only raise the alert when a flight didn't land. A team member then reviews official documents and reports about the flight, and a message is delivered only when an accident on your flight is confirmed and you are among the victims.
Your account and credits
Can I edit or delete my message?
Yes. You can edit your message before the flight. You can also delete a Farewell at any time, and deleting it removes the message for good.
Can I reuse my message on another trip?
Yes. Save your message and contact in your library, and reuse them on every flight. They stay there until you delete them.
How much does it cost?
One credit per Farewell. Credits come in packs: 5 credits for $5, 11 for $10 and 17 for $15. There's no subscription.
Do credits expire?
No. Credits don't expire while your account exists.
Can I get a refund?
No. Credits are final, except where the law gives you a right that cannot be excluded.
